The following is a small list of some of the folks who have provided me with invaluable advice, encouragement and inspiration over the years. Oh, and they write really kick-ass books, too.

Art and Artists:
Believe it or not, I started out as an illustration major, and had every intention of making a career writing and drawing comics. This changed over the years, with my focus shifting more and more toward prose. These days, I rarely sketch at all, but still take great inspiration from all forms of visual media.
All the art featured on this website was done by Kiriko Moth. You can find more of her beautiful work on her official site.
Here are a few of my other favorites, in no particular order:
- Alphonse Mucha
- Sir Edward Burne-Jones
- Brian Froud's World of Froud
- Kinuko Y. Craft
- The Salvador Dali Museum
- Frida Kahlo
Comics and Web Comics:
- xkcd: a webcomic of romance, math, and language
- Two Lumps: The Adventures of Ebenezer and Snooch
- Carla Speed McNeil's FINDER
- Donna Barr's Midnight Library
